The Ambuja House, corporate quarters of Gujarat Ambuja Cement in Ahmadabad is a remarkable interior design undertaking. The client brief demanded a corporate treatment to the building.
However it soon transpired that what they really required was to ‘house’ maximum number of people - “All facing in the ‘right’ direction” and this to be managed with a very tight budget! Confronted with such a confusing, restrictive and challenging design brief, the HCPID team aimed to create a distinctive corporate experience for its inhabitants. The objective was reinterpreted as, functional, but not therefore soulless, basic or utilitarian. To achieve this we came up with programmatic responses like simplistic furniture details in the formal zones, artistic welcome at the reception and emotive play with light throughout the volume.
This approach contributed towards the creation of a well lit, comfortable and a pleasant work space; one that fosters an effective, genial and low stress whilst it retains the power-packed ambience tailored for a high-profile company like Ambuja Cement.
