Project Description
This suite has been designed to display and celebrate many aspects of Gujarat’s economy, art and culture. However, wherever possible we have tried to this in a creative and distinctive way to symbolize Gujarat’s aspiration as a modern, progressive and vibrant state.
The state bedroom (entered through the door on the left) has traditional white ambaji marble flooring with a bold but subtle pattern in jaismaleri yellow stone - a combination that recurs in numerous monuments in western India.
Here we have described the main elements that represent or incorporate various aspects of traditional and modern Gujarati art, crafts, culture and economy. The suite includes many other examples. For instance, the abhla (sequence) work on the adjustable head rest on the arm chairs facing the TV, or vibrantly executed embroidery on the backs of the dining chairs flanking a thoroughly modern and serviceable dining table.
The result is an appropriated blend of Gujarati elegance and glamour without compromising comfort or practicality.
